Our History
The White Horse has been at the heart of village life for centuries. Our Grade II listed building dates back to the early 1700s, its timber-framed beams steeped in history. The pub first appeared in local licensing records in 1789, and for much of the 19th century, it was tied to Thetford Brewery under Thomas Vipan’s ownership.
After decades as a bustling alehouse, the doors closed in 1969—but great pubs never stay quiet for long. The White Horse returned as a free house in the 2010s, serving local ales and restoring its reputation as a welcoming spot for locals and visitors alike.
In 2021, a full refurbishment gave The White Horse a new lease of life, blending its rich heritage with modern comfort. Today, we’re proud to carry on that legacy—a pub that’s all about good food, great drinks, and a lively community spirit.
The story of The White Horse is still being written, and we’d love you to be part of it.
